tinypistol Ensemble Biographies

Maurya Kerr(Choreographer) was a principal dancer with Alonzo King LINES Ballet from 1994-2006, dancing previously for Pacific Northwest Ballet and Fort Worth Ballet. She is currently a senior faculty member for the LINES Ballet Training and Summer Programs, and on faculty with the LINES/Dominican BFA, teaching ballet, choreographing, and setting King’s works. In 2010 Maurya founded tinypistol, a San Francisco based dance company. She is a winner of the 2011 Hubbard Street National Choreographic Competition, and will be setting a work on HS2 in 2012. Maurya recently premiered her piece Quarry Hymn with Ballet Nouveau Colorado, where she has been invited back to create a collaborative work for the company Fall 2011. Challyce Brogdon started her dance training at the age of three at Bre Dance Studio, located in Riverside, California. She continued her training at Los Angeles High School for the Arts. She also attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Summer Intensive in 2010, where she received a fellowship. She has been a guest artist with Capacitor, Gregory Dawson Dance Company, and Alonzo King LINES Ballet, where she was also an apprentice for their 2010 Fall home season, in the ballet Scheherazade. In May 2011 she graduated from Dominican University of California with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and in August she will be joining Oper Graz in Austria. This is Challyce’s first season working with Maurya Kerr’s company tinypistol.
Rachel Fallon was born in New Jersey and grew up in New York City. She started her training at Irene Fokine School of Ballet before attending Manhattan Youth Ballet. She recently graduated from the LINES Ballet Training Program. Rachel is excited to embark on her professional dance career as a member of tinypistol.
Adam Richard Peterson was born and raised in Sacramento, California. From age 4 to 13, Adam studied Kotaka-Ha Shito-Ryu karate where he received international and national recognition for his achievements. Adam began his dance training at Sheldon High School in Elk Grove, California. In his senior year of high school, he had the great opportunity to perform with the Limon Dance Company in Jose Limon’s work Missa Brevis. Adam continued his training and education as a member of Alonzo King LINES Ballet/ Dominican University’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in San Francisco, and in 2008, Adam was invited to perform alongside LINES Ballet in their Fall Home Season. Since the summer of 2008, Mr. Peterson has worked closely with Kara Davis, performing as part her San Francisco based Project Agora. Adam has performed works by Alonzo King, Gregory Dawson, Arturo Fernandez, Yannis Adoniou, Nathan Trice, KT Nelson, Maurya Kerr, Kara Davis, Mark Foehringer, Jose Limon, and Christian Burns. Adam graduated with his Bachelors of Fine Arts in May 2011. He is currently performing with Mark Foehringer's Dance Project, Manuelito Biag's SHIFT>>> Physical Theater and Maurya Kerr's tinypistol.
Megan Wright grew up in Portland, Maine, where she began her ballet training at the age of twelve. She graduated cum laude from the Walnut Hill School in 2009 with honors from the ballet and English departments. While there she performed works by Diane Arvanites, Samuel Kurkjian, and George Balanchine. She joined the Lines Ballet Training Program in 2010 and danced works by Gregory Dawson, Nathan Trice, Kathleen Hermesdorf, Maurya Kerr, and Sidra Bell before graduating in 2011. Since moving to San Francisco she has performed with Mary Carbonara Dances and Katharine Hawthorne, and done site-specific and improvisatory work around the city.
